Training my child...

I am looking for ways to teach Jesse about the Lord Jesus
starting with simple things...
teaching him to be quiet and reverent during prayer times
teaching him phrases and songs about the great big God who made him and everything...
showing him how we love others...hugs and kisses

I think Kevin (our resident family minister at the Bayou) said it great tonight-
our kids should (and will!) learn alot by watching our lifestyle...
(great! no pressure there!)

but it does have me thinking...
so I am challenging myself, and you! to be more proactive...
to start, tonight,
I printed out some reminders to "hang on my doorposts" to remind me of some things that I want to "intentionally" teach my child.

I know he will pick up some "by osmosis",
but I want to be specific and intentional about
doing my part in teaching my son how important
his relationship to his Father God is,
and just how amazing it is that He created everything!
It is a nonstop bombarding culture we live in
and Noggin ain't cuttin' it...
if you know what I mean.
yo gabba gabba!

:) a young mom,
kim

Kim, I wish I had thought about beging more specifc when my kids were growing up and am in awe that you are doing everything to take an active role in doing that for Jesse. I think living a Christ like life is the number one thing you can do because they see everything you do. I know these are things you have heard before but I think it's the most important thing for them to see you living what you believe.
Praying for you and other young moms that God's wisdom helps to guide your little ones to his throne.

Thanks for this great reminder. Being intentional is difficult. Being intentional consistently is even tougher. I don't know about you but I'm relying on Future Grace. Depending on the Lord Jesus for His grace each second of my day. We are nothing without Him. Let's hope our children soak that up. Praying for us both as well as all of the other mothers who are so desperate to lay their children before the Lord. Love you. P.S. - I didn't know anyone else even knew who Carolyn Mahaney was:) Her husband is amazing. He passed the torch of pastor of his church Josh Harris who has two younger brothers, Alex & Brett, who started the Rebelution conferences. Baylee and Ward just got back from one in Dallas. It was incredible. Encouraging to see teenagers so in love with Christ.
