a day at home....

I love to go to Home Depot with my hubby- he has the greatest ideas for improving the house, making it more comfortable and livable for us-
We have a house to do list- and he picked a few things out to get done yesterday...
(ps those lists never end)
He worked all day yesterday installing the hinges and "dogs"
(that's what you call the latch that keeps them open)
on the working shutters that we designed together.
They are wonderful and add a very homey touch-
He put a fresh coat of paint on our entry doors too... all this while having company...
He gets so much done in a work day, tonight he is installing flood lights on our oak tree... and a timer on the Christmas lights.
Note to self: being married to a handyman definitely has its perks!

we had lots of company yesterday! My grandparents, my cousin Gabe and his fiance from Texas, my sis and her hubby were in from New Orleans, my parents... All at the same time in my tiny house... we watched the LSU game together for a while... & ate pumpkin pie.

fun holiday day!

Recipe for a Great Evening...
I made corn/crab/poblano soup last night.....super easy and a super hit with everyone!

just saute 1 onion, 1 poblano pepper (use gloves to dice the pepper or you'll have to spend the night with your hand in a glass of ice water or an ice pak, oops!) and garlic w/ olive oil about 8 minutes, 1 can corn, 1 can cream style corn, then add heavy cream and vegetable stock (more stock than cream) and simmer for about 10 min. Then add fresh crabmeat, simmer another 10 minutes... I add a little cumin and salt- the poblano adds a slow spicy heat mmmm...

Serve with crusty toasted french bread and some decaf iced tea!
We had it with bruschetta (diced tomatoes, fresh basil, olive oil, and mozzarella cheese on thin crusty french bread toasts) wilted spinach and green salad....
follow with a spicy game of Scattegories with the family! Fun stuff!

Learning..

As He brings us day by day, we learn more how to honor Him-
alot of times we learn by falling flat on our faces...
AKA inserting our oh so nasty feet in our mouths...
but hopefully we are learning to trust Him more, to commune with him more, to rest in Him more... to enjoy this life, yet realize it is but a moment of our existence-
learning to live with purpose, with His purposes burning in our hearts,
consuming the desires of this world that so easily distract-
What have you been learning lately?

Liberty Chapel

This is Liberty Chapel- a historical old church in North Louisiana where Bryan's family meets to have Thanksgiving Dinner~

a beautiful setting... lots of loved ones buried across the street in the cemetery... We love it up there.

My Favorite Nephew!

Meet Bailey!

Christmas in the air...and on my fence

For those of you who will never drive by my home at night... I got some "old fashioned" Christmas lights up..special request from Bryan... seems like Christmas to me with the cool weather, the choir CD could be getting the Christmasy mood going for me too. We spent 4 hours in the car today with it...(the cd)

hark how the bells, sweet silver bells.....

Goals

Looking at our old site-
We made plans and pretty much followed through with them-
I finished my Marketing degree at UL, Bryan finished his Bus. Admin. & went back to get his MBA... (one semester left, hallelujah)
We got our little baby for our 3 year anniversary present...
(He) should be get here just in time for Daddy's graduation May 14, 2007.
How great is that timing?
Of course -there were lots of distractions, sacrifices and "course corrections" along the way.
So- It seems like time to make some more "plans" and maybe set some goals....
God has been faithful to sustain us this far-

How has your life lined up with the "plans" you made?

This is the site we set up before we got married! 1200 days ago!
This crazy site counts down days to your wedding, then counts up.... I think that is funny!

New baby... our baby!

Bryan and I are pregnant with our first little baby! We are so excited and we have so much to do before he/she arrives in April... I am 4 months pregnant!!!
I haven't had any pregnancy sickness or anything, I feel great and am so happy to be a mommy!
I love this little person so much already, I get teary eyed when I think about it...

I know it will be a lot of work but I have such a wonderful husband and family- I know it will be so much fun too!

Our Home

Welcome to our home.... we have waited a long time to get here... many moons of Cajun Village nights... not bad- but just not home yet
Bryan has been a absolute miracle worker in transforming this address to our unique taste..
We just had our three year anniversary - Aug 9
I got a fence- :) It's what I wanted...and it is beautiful honey!
He got a 16 ft trailer.. to haul all his "work stuff"ha - didn't I mention we have unique taste...
anyway- we are enjoying every spare minute we have here--which we've had about 15 here this past week.
Blessings of a FULL life!

We are truly amazed at the favor of God.
